The two-time Oscar nominee, 77, shared news of the “miracle” on social media Friday.

“We managed to get to our property and our home, that we were told is gone forever, is still standing,” Woods captioned a video of the surrounding neighborhoods reduced to rubble.

“In this hellish landscape, ‘standing’ is relative, but smoke and other damage is not like the utter destruction around us,” he added.

Earlier this week, Woods got emotional when speaking to CNN about the reported loss of his Pacific Palisades home.

“One day you’re swimming in the pool, and the next it’s all gone,” he said.

Over 12,000 homes, businesses and other structures have been destroyed, with over 38,000 acres consumed by the blazes. So far, 11 people have been confirmed dead, though fire officials tragically expect that number to rise.

Civilians and celebrities alike have had their lives upended by the fires, including Paris Hilton, who watched her Malibu beach house burn to the ground on live TV. Billy Crystal and his wife lost their home of nearly 50 years, while Jeff Bridges lost a property that had been in his family for generations. Anthony Hopkins, Eugene Levy, Anna Faris, Adam Brody and Leigton Meester are also among the growing number of famous faces whose homes were destroyed.

Stepdaughter of late Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss defends mom Allison Holker amid family drama https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/11/stephen-twitch-boss-stepdaughter-weslie-fowler-defends-mom-allison-holker/ Sat, 11 Jan 2025 21:02:11 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8068293 Allison Holker’s daughter, who was raised by her late stepdad, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, is defending her mom against allegations by Boss’ family and friends that Holker has “tarnished” his legacy while promoting her new memoir.

Though the late “Ellen DeGeneres Show” executive producer, who died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022, never formally adopted Weslie Fowler, the 16-year-old said he “raised me my entire life” and “never made me feel like anything but his daughter.”

In an Instagram Live on Friday, she dove into the recent “drama” between Boss’ family, friends and her mom, a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Weslie denied that Holker has in any way tried to keep Boss’ relatives from her or her half-siblings Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5, and has instead been “making the effort” to keep the family in the kids’ lives.

As they “live in different states,” Weslie says she’s seen her stepdad’s family “more than when he was alive.” She accused Boss’ relatives of “trying to act different for social media,” as Holker and Boss’ mom, Connie Boss Alexander, are “very cordial” and “very nice” to one another offline.

“They were talking weekly. My mom sends photos of the kids and what we’re doing,” Weslie said.

The teen also addressed the nondisclosure agreements Holker made people sign before Boss’ funeral, explaining it was merely to prevent people from taking and sharing photos of his body at the viewing.

“That’s the type of thing that NDAs are for. It’s not so you can never talk about Stephen,” Weslie said, noting some didn’t sign and her mother was “lenient.”

“A lot of these people speaking out weren’t around, barely,” she added. “They say [Holker’s] money hungry, that she needs more fame. That’s not how my mom is. Trust me when I say, my mom’s good.”

Weslie also said Holker’s recent remarks about finding a “cornucopia” of drugs in a shoebox belonging to Boss were misunderstood.

“My mom never said that Stephen was an addict,” Weslie said. “But when you have two years after somebody committed suicide to question every interaction you had … obviously my mom’s like, ‘Maybe I should’ve paid more attention to him smoking weed.'”

The suicide of Boss’ own stepdad “stayed with him his entire life,” said Weslie, who implored people to “get your resources and go to therapy,” which she said Boss had been doing for years.

Ultimately, she finds the family drama to be “unnecessary” as “we’re never gonna get Stephen back.”

Tensions ratcheted up this week after People published an interview with Holker — tied to her upcoming memoir, “This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light” — in which she discussed finding those drugs and speculated Boss was “coping” with what she believed was childhood sexual abuse.

An autopsy found neither drugs nor alcohol in Boss’ system at the time of his death.

His response, his mom shared a statement earlier this week calling out the “misleading and hurtful claims” about Boss.

“We will not stand by while his name and legacy are tarnished,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Holker maintains she’s merely trying “to share my own story” and “help other people.” She has said that her memoir’s proceeds will go toward the mental health foundation Move with Kindness, which she established in her late husband’s honor.

James Dean confided in Elizabeth Taylor about childhood sex abuse by priest https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/11/james-dean-elizabeth-taylor-childhood-sex-abuse-priest/ Sat, 11 Jan 2025 19:14:12 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8068184 According to a recently published biography, James Dean confided in close friend and co-star Elizabeth Taylor that he was sexually abused at the hands of his childhood priest.

The late “Rebel Without a Cause” star, who was killed in a 1955 car accident at the age of 24, reportedly told Taylor about the molestation while they were working on “Giant,” a film released after his death.

“They stayed up long nights talking, and Dean found that once he started to let slip bits of emotional truth, the words poured out,” writes Jason Colavito in “Jimmy: The Secret Life of James Dean,” according to People.

“He told Taylor that his minister — he almost certainly meant the Reverend [James] DeWeerd — had sexually abused him, and Taylor felt that the trauma of the abuse had hurt him deeply and profoundly,” Colavito claims.

But according to the author, Taylor surmised that Dean’s confession was also allusion to his sexuality.

“As he shared more of his life, his loves and his pain, Taylor developed the distinct impression that Dean was trying to tell her he was gay,” Colavito writes.

The latest biography isn’t the first piece of writing to dive into speculation about Dean’s sexuality, nor the alleged confession about the abuse Taylor said he suffered.

In a since-deleted article for The Daily Beast, Kevin Sessums said that during a 1997 interview for POZ magazine, Taylor told him Dean’s abuse began when the “East of Eden” actor was 11 and that it “haunted” him.

“During ‘Giant,’ we’d stay up nights and talk, and talk, and that was one of the things he confessed to me,” she reportedly told Sessums, who she swore to secrecy until after she died.

Mandy Moore tells critics to ‘F off’ amid backlash to wildfire GoFundMe https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/10/mandy-moore-go-fund-me-backlash-response/ Fri, 10 Jan 2025 22:24:24 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8067293 Mandy Moore is defending her post imploring followers to donate to a GoFundMe for her in-laws and friends displaced by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, telling critics to “kindly F OFF.”

The Emmy-nominated “This Is Us” star, one of many celebrities whose home was destroyed in the deadly blazes, spoke out after posting a link on Thursday to a GoFundMe established for her brother- and sister-in-law, Griff and Kit Goldsmith, who are expecting their first child in just a few weeks.

In an edited Instagram post, Moore addressed the backlash to the fundraiser, writing: “People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are.”

She added that the fundraiser was set up by pal Matthew Koma, who’s married to Hilary Duff.

Moore said she was only sharing the GoFundMe “because people have asked how they can help” Griff and Kit. The mom of three, who’s married to Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, then reminded followers that she and her family “just lost most of our life in a fire too.”

Earlier in the post, Moore said her in-laws “lost their home and everything they own” as a result of the Eaton Fire, which also destroyed every house on the actress’ block. She said the parents-to-be “need our support now more than ever.”

Moore has shared links to multiple GoFundMe fundraisers for friends having to rebuild their lives due to the wildfires, to which she said she’s also donating.

The blazes have destroyed over 36,000 acres in and around Los Angeles, killing at least 10 people and displacing more than 200,000.

“Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone,” Moore wrote on Instagram Thursday, showing the limited remnants of her house. “We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support.”

Kardashian-Jenners flee homes, donate meals amid L.A. wildfires https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/10/kardashian-jenners-flee-homes-donate-meals-kenneth-fire/ Fri, 10 Jan 2025 20:11:24 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8066967 The Kardashian-Jenner family fled their homes as they followed mandatory evacuation orders amid the deadly wildfires destroying neighborhoods and displacing hundreds of thousands in and around Los Angeles.

Sources confirmed to TMZ that Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Robert Kardashian, as well as mom Kris Jenner and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie, all adhered to the since-lifted order for the Kenneth Fire, which broke out in a nearby area and quickly spread to their Hidden Hills neighborhood.

It’s not clear if or when the stars have returned to their respective homes.

Amid the ongoing devastation, the family paid it forward by helping to feed firefighters who are battling the blazes, with meals from Carousel Restaurant. The Lebanese-Armenian eatery thanked the famous family on Instagram, saying their “generosity knows no bounds.”

Khloé, 40, also shared the post to her Instagram Story, praising the restaurant for having “whipped up hundreds of individual meals” for firefighters, volunteers and other first responders.

“We could not be more thankful!” she said, thanking those battling the fires “for putting your lives on the line for all of us!”

TMZ was told the family’s businesses, including Kim’s shapewear and clothing company SKIMS, are donating to organizations supporting the L.A. area, where more than 36,000 acres have been burned.

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the fires. Among those who have lost their homes are numerous celebrities — including Billy Crystal, Adam Brody and Paris Hilton.

Hoda Kotb gets star-studded ‘TODAY’ send-off including surprise Kathie Lee reunion https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/10/hoda-kotb-today-show-final-show-kathie-lee-gifford-reunion/ Fri, 10 Jan 2025 18:05:17 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8066623 Hoda Kotb wrapped up her nearly 20-year tenure on the “Today” show Friday with some starry surprise cameos.

Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Simone Biles and Kermit the Frog were among those who appeared, virtually and in-person, in the touching “Hoda-bration.”

Kotb, 60, who’s retiring to spend more time with her young family, began the 7 a.m. hour holding hands with Savannah Guthrie, saying, “One last time. Let’s do this.”

After pre-recorded video tributes from colleagues including Guthrie, Al Roker, Carson Daly and successor Craig Melvin, a choked-up Kotb got even more surprises, like a personalized art piece commissioned by Curtis.

“It says, ‘Every today with you is a better day,’ and the dates of your time at the ‘Today’ show,” said the “Halloween” star via video. “From all of your friends, your fans, me included, thank you for being such a shining example to all of us of what’s really important. And the reason that you’re stopping is the most important.”

In her own video, Winfrey said she knows “what making this decision feels like.”

“I will assure you that yes, you have made the right move, although it has been very hard to do,” said the multi-billionaire. “Whatever you decide to do in your next chapter, in the next adventure, it will be the best decision for you and for your family.”

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles then popped by the studio to surprise her “Olympics mom.”

The star gymnast, 27, said she and Kotb had an instant connection in her early days competing and thanked the journalist for giving the U.S. team “a safe space … to tell our stories.”

Though Biles remained coy about whether or not she’ll compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, she teased that she hopes she and Kotb are “in L.A. together.”

“We broke news on my last day!” Kotb proclaimed.

Everyone’s favorite Muppet also appeared to serenade Kotb and her daughters — Haley, 8, and Hope, 5 — with a rendition of “Rainbow Connection,” which Kotb said she sings with the girls each night.

For her final walk out to Rockefeller Plaza, Kotb was escorted by Guthrie through the “tunnel of love,” where show staff and producers cheered. Outside, some fans held up goodbye signs, while others begged Kotb to stay.

During the subsequent taping of “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” Kotb received a pre-recorded message from her mom, Sameha, and surprise visits from Gayle King, Jimmy Fallon, Kathie Lee Gifford and country star Walker Hayes.

Kotb announced in September that she’d be leaving the show where she spent 17 years, including five as co-anchor, noting the time had come for her to focus more on her role as a mom. In November, she revealed that she’d be replaced by fellow network vet Melvin in the 7 to 9 a.m. block alongside Guthrie.

Meanwhile, a new version of the fourth hour of “TODAY” will make its debut on Monday. Jenna Bush Hager announced earlier this week that Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, Eva Longoria and Michelle Buteau had been tapped to guest co-host “Today with Jenna & Friends” in the days following Kotb’s departure. Scarlett Johansson will join for a week-long co-hosting stint starting Jan. 20.

Reality star Chase Chrisley arrested for slapping Atlanta bar manager https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/10/chase-chrisley-arrested-slapped-atlanta-bar-manager/ Fri, 10 Jan 2025 16:05:32 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8066598 Chase Chrisley is following in his family’s footsteps as the “Chrisley Knows Best” alum was arrested Thursday for an alleged bar fight in Atlanta earlier this week.

The 28-year-old “Growing Up Chrisley” star, son of convicted fraudsters Todd and Julie Chrisley, was taken into custody for misdemeanor simple battery Thursday, according to online jail records.

He was released from Fulton County Jail the same day on $10,000 bond, following the alleged altercation Monday.

Twin Peaks manager Brendon Nash told a 911 dispatcher that Chrisley slapped him, according to audio previously obtained by TMZ.

“I’m telling you right now, the cops are coming. … Do not touch me. Do not touch me,” said Nash, as he spoke to the alleged offender.

Nash explains to the dispatcher that he “politely” asked an “aggressive” guest to leave, and that the guest “actually assaulted me,” which Chrisley can be heard denying in the background.

“Now he’s in my face,” Nash says as Chrisley can be heard telling him to “f–k off.”

“I just want him to leave. I don’t want anything but him to go,” Nash tells the dispatcher, adding that the guest is “drunk.”

Nash adds that the man has a “very polite” driver trying to help escort him out.

“He just slapped me in the face again,” Nash says. “He’s leaving the building now, but he just slapped me in the face.”

Chrisley’s parents, who are more well-known at this point for their criminal records, starred on USA’s reality series, “Chrisley Knows Best,” about the titular Atlanta-based family.

“Chrisley Knows Best” ended after 10 seasons in 2023, the year after Todd and Julie were sentenced to 12 and seven years behind bars, respectively for bank fraud and tax evasion.

In November 2024, matriarch Julie was re-sentenced to seven years in prison after a judge denied her request to reduce her prison time.

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ mom hits back at Allison Holker memoir https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/09/stephen-twitch-boss-mom-responds-alison-holker-memoir/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 21:23:11 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8065516 Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ mom is accusing his widow, Allison Holker, of tarnishing his legacy after unearthing Boss’ alleged drug use and childhood traumas while promoting her new memoir.

The former “Ellen DeGeneres Show” executive producer, who shared three children with 36-year-old Holker, died by suicide in December 2022. He was 40.

“Our family is absolutely appalled by the misleading and hurtful claims made about my son, Stephen Boss,” Connie Boss Alexander wrote in an Instagram statement Thursday.

“The recent publications spreading untruths about Stephen have crossed every line of decency. As his mother, I will not let these accusations go unanswered. We will not stand by while his name and legacy are tarnished. He doesn’t deserve this, and the kids don’t deserve this,” continued Boss Alexander.

She explained that following Boss’ death, she “remained quiet… to protect my family.

“But when I read these dreadful claims about my baby, our beloved Stephen, I realized I could not stay silent any longer,” Boss Alexander continued. “Our family will ensure his name and memory are protected, and we are committed to defending his honor. … #StandForStephen #BossFamilyUnited.”

Holker said in People’s latest cover story that while preparing for Boss’ funeral, she unearthed a “cornucopia” of drugs in one of his shoeboxes. An autopsy  found no evidence or drugs or alcohol in Boss’ system at the time of his death.

The “So You Think You Can Dance” judge, who is promoting her upcoming memoir, “This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light,” alleged that Boss’ journals allude to childhood sexual abuse and that he “was trying to self-medicate and cope.”

Former “Ellen” producer Andy Lassner is among those standing in Boss Alexander’s corner, commenting on her post: “Sending you so much love.”

Courtney Platt, a friend of Boss’, slammed Holker’s actions as “money hungry. … Let my friend Rest in Peace not your PR.”

Boss’ brother shared his sentiment on his Instagram Story, adding, “No lies told.”

Amid increasing backlash from those describing the book as a “money grab,” Holker maintains that her “only intention in writing the book is to share my own story” and “to help other people.”

She added that all of the book’s proceeds will go toward Move with Kindness, the mental health foundation she established in Boss’ honor.

Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole likes Taylor Swift despite ‘being reduced to a headline’ https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/09/travis-kelce-ex-kayla-nicole-taylor-swift-fan/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 19:23:15 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8065108 Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole is actually a fan of Taylor Swift, despite “being reduced to a headline” amid the stars’ headline-dominating love story.

The 33-year-old sports commentator opens up about her stance on the Grammy winner during Wednesday’s third season premiere of Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” The reality series sends a group of celebrities to undergo training with former Special Forces operatives.

“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it’s been overwhelming,” says Nicole, who split from the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in 2022, after five years on-and-off. “I’ve never experienced anything like it — reduced to a headline, to something so small as someone’s ex-girlfriend.”

The influencer and model then tells her fellow contestants that she “actually really like[s]” Swift and thinks “she’s very talented.”

Nicole is later shown a headline about the trolling she’s endured amid the romance between the pop superstar and her Super Bowl champ ex.

“It’s pretty constant. Exhausting,” Nicole says. “I can post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation. It’s inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question just my overall value as a person. … It’s just the comparison. It’s just like on loop. I think I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with that.”

Back in October, Nicole also reflected on the backlash she’s faced since Swift and Kelce’s relationship began in July 2023.

“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos didn’t impact me. It does. Even to this day,” she told the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, adding that Kelce is “a great guy.”

Prince William shares touching note, photo of Kate Middleton on first birthday since chemo https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/01/09/prince-william-shares-touching-note-photo-of-kate-middleton-on-first-birthday-since-chemo/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 16:33:25 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=8065025 Prince William penned a touching note to “incredible” Kate Middleton Thursday to celebrate her 43rd birthday, her first after finishing chemotherapy.

The couple released Matt Porteous’ stunning black-and-white portrait of the Princess of Wales on their official Instagram account, showing Kate with her hands in jean pockets, a cuffed blazer and gingham scarf as she smiles, looking off into the distance.

William began the tribute by crowning Kate as “the most incredible wife and mother,” four months to the day after she announced she had completed chemotherapy.

He praised the “remarkable” strength she’s displayed over the past year, which William has previously called “brutal,” as both Kate and King Charles simultaneously battled cancer.

“George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you,” continued the prince. “Happy Birthday, Catherine. we love you. W.”

In December, the couple released their annual Christmas greeting, though unlike previous ones, they used a previously seen family portrait. The photo was a still from the family’s September announcement that Kate was cancer-free.

In January 2024, Kate disappeared from the public eye amid a “successful” abdominal surgery, triggering both concern and speculation when her absence stretched until March. Weeks after her father-in-law had done the same, Kate revealed she’d been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.

She eventually returned to public royal duties in a more limited capacity, confirming on Sept. 9 that she was in remission.

In November, William described 2024 as “dreadful,” adding it was likely “the hardest year” he’d ever experienced.

Just last week, William said he was “shocked and saddened” to learn that Edward Pettifer, the stepson of his and Prince Harry’s former nanny, was the final victim identified in the New Year’s day New Orleans truck attack.

News broke, in the wake of the French Quarter ramming that left over a dozen dead, that neither William nor his 76-year-old monarch father would attend the Jan. 9 state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter. At the time, it was unclear whether that was due to previous commitments or security concerns.
